Nick Novak, Amber Jensen and Steve Flaherty from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education will discuss navigation of limited submission opportunities for external funding.  Procedure for external grant programs that limit the number of proposal submissions per campus will be reviewed. This will include discussion of what do to if your PI is interested in a limited submission opportunity, where these opportunities are posted and who is responsible for the process. Finally, we will discuss sponsor specific guidelines related to limited submission opportunities.

We will talk about RAMP, the RSP training website and resources, and open the conversation to you all.

Export Controls are federal regulations that can impact projects in many ways including international travel, shipping, collaborations, with whom you can share certain technical information, and who you may be able to hire for particular projects. Anyone who could potentially have exposure to this situations, including faculty, PIs, lab staff, administrative staff etc. is encouraged to attend.

Ryan Schryver, Public Access Compliance Lead, will introduce Hassan Hossayrami who joined Ryan at Ebling Library.  They will talk about their roles and the resources to help SMPH researchers.

The federal export control laws and regulations can impact many aspects of the research mission at UW-Madison, including from whom we buy items, who we collaborate with, where we can ship items, when we need to get export licenses and when to manage information for projects containing sensitive information.  This training will discuss the key export control regulations, non-compliances, what contract clauses to look out for and what activities may require review from the Export Control Office.
