Key actions needed as PMDP transitions to Workday
As the university transitions from the current performance review system, PMDP, to Workday Performance Management, a process has been devised to facilitate a smooth cutover. This process has three steps.
Open PMDP by May 31 Final closeout of PMDP by Oct. 1 Start in Workday by Oct. 31
Open 2025 Summary Evaluations in PMDP (Step 1) by May 31
- Deadline: May 31, 2025
- Action: All supervisors responsible for conducting annual evaluations for fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) must open a Summary Evaluation for their employees in PMDP by May 31, 2025. Evaluations do not need to be completed by May 31 but must be initiated and saved.
- Why: Access to initiate new items within PMDP will be locked due to the Workday transition. Supervisors and staff will only be able to edit/close reviews that are already open and view previously closed reviews.
- Details:
- UW Policy requires supervisors to complete annual reviews for all full-time and part-time (non-faculty) academic and university staff and limited appointees.
- A separate message will be sent to supervisors of employees within probation to clarify any special considerations for completing these reviews. Different employee scenarios, such as those on probation, are detailed in the HR Performance Management Cutover resources.

Start in Workday (Step 3) by Oct. 31
- Deadline: Oct. 31
- Action: Supervisors will be required to input expectations and goals from the FY25 PMDP into Workday by Oct. 31 in order to be set up in the platform for the first review cycle in Workday, the midpoint evaluation.
- Details:
- This action will be available starting Monday, July 28, when supervisors will receive a “task” in Workday to set performance management content in Workday.
- The timelines for Step 2 and 3 will overlap.
