Finding educational scholarship funding opportunities is important for supporting the education mission in academic medicine. However, finding the right funding opportunity can be overwhelming and not always easy. Funding opportunities exist in smaller and larger dollar amounts from a variety of organizations. Some opportunities are local or available from UW-Madison, UW SMPH or individual departments. The resources and opportunities listed below will assist faculty and staff with approaches and strategies for identifying appropriate funding sources. Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Awards

Given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to promoting justice in medical education and health care equity in the United States. AAMC Herbert W. Nickens Faculty Fellowship
This award is given to an exceptional assistant-level faculty member who demonstrates efforts in addressing needs of racial and ethnic minorities in the United States. The recipient receives a $25,000 grant to support a project performed in the United States to support racial and ethnic minorities.
AAMC Group on Educational Affairs (GEA)
This award provides a funding opportunity to research projects that address important problems or questions in medical education. Research grants on education: Large
Projects may span from one to five years, with budgets ranging from $125,000 to $500,000. Anticipated grants will fall within three funding tiers: $125,000 to $250,000; $250,001 to $375,000; and $375,001 to $500,000.

These are grants with budgets up to $50,000 and for projects ranging from one to five years. They accept applications three times per year.

This program fosters the career growth of promising early-career researchers through five-year grants, expanding expertise in new areas. Recipients receive $350,000 over five years without replacing existing institutional support.
Research Grants on Improving the Use of Research Evidence
The program funds research to improve the use and impact of evidence for young Americans aged 5-25. Grants range from $100,000 to $1,000,000 over 2-4 years, with up to 15% for indirect costs. Studies using secondary data can receive $100,000-$300,000, while those needing new data collection can receive $300,000-$600,000.
Institutional Challenge Grant
The Institutional Challenge Grant offers $650,000 over three years to help university research entities form lasting partnerships with public agencies or nonprofits to reduce youth inequality. Up to $60,000 is allocated for nine months of planning, with 15% allowed for indirect costs.
