Premiums for benefits are deducted one month in advance of the coverage month, except for Income Continuation in which premiums are taken the same as the coverage month. The timing of benefit enrollments and effective dates may result in multiple premiums taken from payroll at one time.
Wisconsin Retirement System
Your position may require you to participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) effective on date of hire. For the 2018-2019 academic year, mandatory WRS contributions of 6.7% will be deducted from your gross earnings on a pre-tax basis. Your funds will automatically be put in a core account unless you complete an enrollment form within the first 30 days to have up to 50% of your funds deposited in the variable account instead (stocks only).
You earn paid leave as an unclassified employee. Leave benefits are based on a fiscal year: July 1 to the following June 30. An employee is responsible to report any leave taken online by the fifth of each month for leave taken during the prior month. If no leave is taken during any given month, an absence entry for No Leave Taken must be entered. As a 1.0 FTE, you are responsible for completing your leave report by reporting time in the following increments:
Less than 2 hours taken – report nothing online
2 to 6 hours – report 4.0 hours on leave report (online)
6 hours – report 8.0 hours on leave report (online)
