Our success in accomplishing our vision of Building Community in the School of Medicine and Public Health will depend on the commitment and engagement of all members of the SMPH community. To help provide structure and leadership for our efforts, and to create avenues for participation at all levels of the organization, several strategy and work teams have been established.
The work teams are focused on critical areas that were identified in surveys, including the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Medical Student Graduation Questionnaire, independent student analysis, and a Women in Science & Engineering Leadership (WISELI) study of faculty work life. These areas are listed below.
The work of all of these teams is being overseen by a steering committee that provides strategic direction, helps remove barriers, offers input, and ensures availability of and access to needed resources.
Each of the teams is charged with determining what tasks need to be accomplished to achieve the established goals (see work team goals below) and working over the life of the plan to ensure that those tasks are accomplished and the goals met.
