Advance Health by Acting Against Racism

SMPH Spring 2021 Initiative

This series of events and a toolkit of resources — all focused on anti-racism — will be highlighted throughout the spring 2021 semester. These resources are titled the “SMPH Spring 2021 Initiative: Advance Health by Acting Against Racism” and are part of the SMPH Building Community program. View the events and resources below.

There will be virtual film screenings, other events, and a Diversity Summit hosted by the school. The table below also highlights other campus events and resources for further learning. Some are standalone resources to explore throughout the semester. Others are meant to be reviewed before and after specific events to prepare or continue the conversation with others or within yourself.

Some events are co-sponsored by SMPH and UW Health. The school’s interim co-Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officers and other SMPH units such as the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Native American Center for Health Professions are helping organize events.

Diversity Summit

The Diversity Summit on Tuesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. will feature keynote speaker Elena V. Rios, MD, MSPH, FACP, President & CEO of the National Hispanic Medical Association and President of the National Hispanic Health Foundation. The event will also feature several Latinx faculty physicians and staff from SMPH and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
