This seminar is designed for women faculty at the associate professor level, with between 8-15 years of experience in their faculty appointment at a U.S. or Canadian medical school within academic medicine and science. The AAMC application phase will begin in early August and close in mid-September. To learn more about session dates and objectives, visit the AAMC website.
Opportunity for Sponsorship
Each year, in mid-May, the Office for Faculty Affairs and Development (OFAD) will initiate an opportunity for registration funding for selected female Associate Faculty members to attend this seminar. The number of selected faculty members will vary per year depending on the number of applications received. Travel and accommodation costs will not be covered by OFAD and applicants are encouraged to ask their divisions, departments or other sources. To be considered, submit an application for OFAD registration sponsorship at the application portal here. A committee of SMPH reviewers will evaluate the applications and applicants will be notified of their selection with time to complete the AAMC online application. OFAD funding does not guarantee acceptance by AAMC.
These are the materials you will need to include in your application for OFAD funding.
- Letter from your current Department Chair
- Letter from applicant (2 page max.) addressing the following questions:
- What are some of the most difficult challenges you are experiencing in your current role?
- How do you think this course/seminar could contribute to your success in academic medicine?
- CV for applicant (5 page max.)
Please ensure you include all materials and information and submit at the application portal. Applications are due by TBD.
