We are seeking candidates from among our current SMPH CT, CHS, and tenure track faculty members who are interested in serving in the role of Associate Dean for Admissions starting approximately on July 1, 2024. This position provides leadership to the Office of MD Admissions. Apply by Monday, Feb. 12, 2024.
The ideal candidate will have experience in medical school admissions or residency selection and hold an MD/DO or equivalent degree. The ideal candidate should be a current SMPH faculty member at associate professor level or higher, in tenure, CHS, or CT track, and able to devote at least 40% FTE to this position. SMPH assistant professors who meet other listed criteria and will be eligible for promotion to associate professor within two years will be considered if supported by their department chair.

- Preferred: Experience in medical school admissions or residency selection.
Job Summary: Responsible for general oversight of the medical school admissions process, ensuring a strong and mission-aligned pool of candidates for consideration by the Admissions Committee. Acts as an ambassador to potential applicant pools, the SMPH community, and beyond. Collaborates with the Director of Admissions on administrative and leadership responsibilities of the Office of Admissions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directs admissions strategic planning initiatives and establishes recruitment and enrollment goals for the MD Program
- Utilizes enrollment management strategies to ensure appropriate class size and a balance of student characteristics
- Ensures compliance with all accreditation standards and improves program quality using continuous quality improvement processes
- Develops institutional admissions operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
- Oversees the Office of Admissions budget
- Serves as the institutional admissions liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing institutional admission information and representing the interests of the institutional admissions unit
- Advises institutional leadership on enrollment planning and management
- Directs the scholarship allocation process, using a mission-aligned, holistic process
- Develops a recruitment strategic plan and monitors program-wide recruitment operations
- Identifies and recruits potential members of the Admissions Committee and Faculty Interviewers to ensure a diverse representation of perspectives
- Collaborates with the Office of Student Services and Office of Multicultural Affairs in issues relating to prospective and current students, in alignment with goals and priorities
- Attends and participates in regional and national meetings of admissions leaders to be aware of national trends and best practices in admissions, applying lessons learned
