The below message is from the Office of Diversity and Equity Transformation.
Embarking on diversity, equity and inclusion learning is a crucial component in supporting our goal to be a national leader among academic medical centers in antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Office of Diversity and Equity Transformation offers various web-based and “live” learning and growth opportunities to support a DEI and antiracist workplace culture for all at SMPH.
“Our diversity is our strength. We stand with those within UW Health and SMPH who create this environment – an environment that has been recognized time and again for excellence in clinical care, education, and breakthrough discoveries that transform lives and restore hope. Our faculty, staff, and learners should not be the targets of hatred and vitriol. If and when they are, each of us is responsible for stepping in to halt it. We stand ready to call out and confront behavior motivated by bigotry. And we are committed to addressing any manifestations of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, prejudice, and intolerance.”
Alan S. Kaplan, MD, Chief Executive Officer, UW Health, and Robert N. Golden, MD, Dean, UW School of Medicine and Public Health. February 12, 2020.
The Office of Diversity and Equity Transformation’s goal is to provide departments with personalized tools they need to begin building a sustainable culture of antiracism and inclusion. In consultation with our DEI team, learnings can be catered to meet your needs, honoring the length of time you have available to engage a topic or the order in which you want to learn about a topic.
If you or your team(s) are interested in:
-a longitudinal learning roadmap approach (engaging in 3 to 8 learning sessions that build on each other over a multiple month period),
-one-time DEI presentations (length of presentation can range from 15 mins to 90 mins), or
-learning more about available e-learning resources
Please contact Diego Campoverde, DEI Manager, at dcampoverde@uwhealth.org to set up a meeting to discuss these opportunities further.
A personalized learning roadmap can provide your teams with the knowledge and skills that in partnership, we can move toward a culture of antiracism and inclusion.
