The SMPH Office of Diversity and Equity Transformation is excited to share that we are expanding our Employee Resource Group (ERG) offerings with a new Disability and Neurodiversity Employee Resource Group. This ERG has been highly anticipated and is being formed to help promote disability and neurodiversity inclusion, including but not limited to physical, mental, and emotional, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. In this space, we will honor how people want to identify either as person-first (a person with a disability and/or a person who is neurodiverse) or identity-first (disabled and/or neurodiverse person). In this context, we will reference the two interchangeably to be inclusive of how individuals may choose to identify.
We invite you to join us in creating a space that fosters a diverse and inclusive environment for disabled and neurodiverse persons. This group will provide opportunities to work collectively toward professional and personal development and support in order to improve the experiences of individuals who identify as disabled and/or neurodiverse. If you are interested in joining the Disability and Neurodiversity ERG, please use this link to submit your statement of interest. If you would like to learn more about the Disability and Neurodiversity ERG, please review a draft of the group’s charter here, or contact Afra Smith, Manager, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, at asmith9@uwhealth.org. Members of the group will be able to contribute to further shaping the ERG’s charter.
For all accommodations, support services, and/or learning and education needs related to disabilities, please contact the Divisional Disability Representatives (DDRs) in SMPH at smph-accommodation@med.wisc.edu , so they can assist you. For more information regarding SMPH accommodations please visit their Intranet page. The school is committed to being a diverse, and inclusive environment. Our Employee Resource Groups help support our commitment.
