The UW Health Clinical Simulation Program, which serves the clinical and medical education mission of our organization, seeks an innovative, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as Medical Director. This position functions as a physician dyad partner to the Administrative Director of Emergency Education & Clinical Simulation.
The Medical Director will co-lead the strategic direction of the UW Health Clinical Simulation Program in partnership with the administrative director and serves as the physician lead of simulation throughout UW Health, UW School of Medicine and Public Health, and the greater Wisconsin area. This role will cultivate and support the strategic goals of the Center including improved patient outcomes, teamwork, professional education and development, and research, and will partner with clinical departments to set educational goals and objectives and identify knowledge gaps in training. Finally, the medical director will champion new, creative directions in the use of healthcare simulation and educational technologies and further the goal of making the UW Health Clinical Simulation Program one of the top programs in the country.
The program seeks applicants with a medical degree and a strong background in simulation education. The successful physician candidate will possess the training and skills to lead organizational change, systems integration, enhance patient safety, and provide evidence-based educational strategies. They will be a key partner in curriculum development, teaching and debriefing learners, patient safety and quality, and community outreach. Finally, this leader must possess the ability to represent the clinical enterprise outside of one’s own specialty and be adept at building collaborative, inclusive relationships with faculty, clinicians, and staff.
This position is anticipated to require a 0.25 FTE administrative time commitment.
