Leadership announcement: Senior Director of SMPH Core Facilities

The below message from the SMPH Office of Research and Graduate Studies was shared with all SMPH employees on Thursday, Sept. 9. 

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that Rich Halberg, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Oncology, has accepted our offer (effective immediately) to become the inaugural Senior Director of SMPH Cores. Over the past several years, Rich has successfully directed the Biomedical Research Model Services (BRMS) core, ushering in a new era of rigor, reproducibility, and sustainability. In his new role, Rich will be responsible for central leadership and oversight of all SMPH Core facilities, including development and implementation of strategic goals and consistency in overall administrative and fiscal management of cores. He will prioritize the further development of governance processes for starting, expanding, and sustaining SMPH cores, and in consultation with core leaders, adopt innovative business models to facilitate greater utilization of core resources. Please join us in welcoming Rich into this new and important role within the SMPH.
