We are sharing the following information with SMPH employees on behalf of Katherine Cramer, PhD, Natalie C. Holton Chair of Letters & Science and Professor of Political Science, UW–Madison.
BadgersVote and the Wiscard Office needs your help to issue voter-compliant ID cards to students during early voting on campus and on election day. This card is needed by students who do not have a Wisconsin driver’s license, Wisconsin State ID, or a U.S. Passport. We will have three voting locations during early voting from October 20 – October 30 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. On election day November 3 we will have print stations at each of the 7 campus polling locations from 7 a.m.-8 p.m while polls are open. All of these stations will need help staffing the hour long shifts.
To be eligible to work, you must be a current UW-Madison full-time, part-time or student employee. Please obtain approval from your supervisor before you sign up. Your department will incur the expense for any hours worked. We will be hosting an online training session. If you are unable to attend that training session it will be available online to watch after. You are required to complete the short online training to best assist our students.
Due to COVID-19 and UW – Madison’s Smart Restart we are required to comply with Public Health Protocols. Based on current guidance, all employees are required to wear either a reusable cloth or single-use disposable mask while present in any area within campus buildings. In addition, employees are also required to wear a mask while outside in campus spaces. Hand sanitizer will be available at the polling locations, however, you are still expected to follow proper hygiene practices. You are to maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet. All early voting locations will be held outdoors under tents unless inclement weather prohibits. This call will be determined in collaboration with the City Clerk’s Office by 9am the day of the event. All locations will be consolidated indoors to a location in Memorial Union if this is determined. All election day locations will be held indoors.
