- SMPH warmly welcomed its newest class of medical students in the White Coat Ceremony on Friday afternoon. The virtual event was livestreamed to the school’s Facebook page where the students’ families and friends, as well as members of the school, joined in the celebration. The event also inducted fourth-year students, two faculty, and a resident into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. The video has reached approximately 10,000 people. - Employees with furlough time obligations must record that time no later than October 31. An online calculator is available for checking your furlough balance (please note that only hours already approved by your supervisor will be reflected; hours that are pending approval will not be included).

- Jasmine Zapata, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor (CHS), Department of Pediatrics, has received the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation’s Superhero of Medicine award for her work to reduce disparities and help inspire a more diverse health care workforce. The video of the livestream is available for watching.
- An all-campus / all-community session about Smart Restart was hosted this morning by Chancellor Blank and the recording is available for viewing.
- Reminder: The SMPH HR team will offer two sessions about Smart Restart for supervisors and managers next week. They will occur on August 25 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and August 28 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Webex information is below.
