SMPH Seeks Chairs for New Basic Science Departments

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is launching two new basic science departments: Cell and Regenerative Biology, and Neuroscience. Chairs are being sought for both departments.

Chair of Cell and Regenerative Biology

The new Department of Cell and Regenerative Biology was created via the integration of faculty from the former departments of Anatomy, Pharmacology and Physiology. SMPH invites applications and nominations for the position of chair of this new department, which has 17 faculty members.

Candidates should be recognized leaders with outstanding academic backgrounds, including strong research credentials, demonstrated commitment to education, experience in mentoring junior faculty, and proven leadership and management skills. They must have a PhD degree or equivalent and must have academic credentials for a tenured faculty appointment at the UW-Madison.

Chair of Neuroscience

The SMPH has formed a new Department of Neuroscience, incorporating faculty from the former departments of Anatomy and Physiology. This new department will consolidate the strengths in research and teaching in neuroscience, an important area of biomedical research within the School of Medicine and Public Health. The department has 31 faculty members.

SMPH invites applications and nominations for the position of chair of this new department. We seek an exceptional scientist and a recognized leader with an outstanding academic background, including a state-of-the-art research program that complements the department’s existing strengths, demonstrated commitment to education, experience in mentoring junior faculty, proven leadership and management skills and an exciting vision for the future of neuroscience at UW-Madison. Candidates must have a PhD degree or equivalent and must have academic credentials for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.
